We understand the importance and challenges of fund-raising in the current economy, and appreciate that the continued success of non-profit organizations depends on the hard work of dedicated people and the generosity of contributors. As a vital extension of our tradition of supporting charities, we have developed a program that can enhance the fund-raising efforts of non-profits. With this program much needed funds can be raised for charity while at the same time giving supporters all the wonderful memories of an unforgettable vacation. With this program, we do all of the work, while charities reap the benefits.
Program Overview
Fundraising group travel often can earn charitable donations equal to as much as 50% of our commission. As few as 10 passengers in 5 rooms may qualify as a group depending on the cruise line or tour operator policies. We work with individual charities to pick the right itinerary for their group, to add value for supporters joining the group (such as onboard amenities, private gatherings onboard, etc.), and to set a per-room amount to be donated to the charity after the travel is completed.
How much can be raised?
Anywhere from $25 to $500 per room booked in the group can be raised for the participating charity. So a group that makes $100 per room for the charity with 25 rooms booked would be a $2,500 total donation. The exact donation amount is based on:
- the cruise line or tour operator used
- length of itinerary (i.e. a 14 night cruise would have a higher donation amount than a 3 night cruise)
- the time of travel (off-peak cruises might earn more than on-peak cruises)
What costs are involved?
Dependant on the supplier involved, and the number of rooms blocked into the group space, the initial up front cost can range from nothing to $50 per room initial deposit to secure the space. The initial deposit is fully refundable, or can be used towards final payment. In the event that a charity wants to block a large number of rooms and the $50 per room deposit is required (50 rooms = $2,500 initial deposit) we can work with the charity to develop a sponsorship package to raise the funds needed for the initial deposit (so there is no financial obligation for the charity).
